Project Overview
- Converting space in a historic mill building into multi-use medical space
- Complying with federal historic rehabilitation standards
- Securing financing from multiple sources
The project involved the conversion of approximately 100,000 sq. ft. of space on six floors of a historic mill building into multi-purpose healthcare space that consists of administrative offices, patient exam rooms, patient treatment areas, patient waiting rooms, medical and behavioral health provider offices, a training center and a pharmacy. The facility houses program areas for family practice, adult primary care, walk-in clinic/testing and dental care, along with innovative programs for youth development and overall health promotion.
The project included the design and construction of core and shell improvements as well as interior fit-out. The building is located within a federally-regulated historic district and therefore needed to comply with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation of Historic Properties. Project financing was acquired from multiple funding sources including government grants, (HRSA FIP Grant) and tax credits.
