Project Overview

  • New construction of a facility supporting the design, construction and lifecycle of nuclear-powered submarines for the U.S. Navy

  • Construction managed adjacent to the company’s occupied facilities housing mission critical operations

General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB), the premiere builder of submarines for the U.S. Navy, employs shipyard trades, designers, engineers and related specialist disciplines that produce nuclear-powered submarines. To support their continued complex operations, GDEB called for the construction of a new four-story facility at their Groton campus.

Located adjacent to GDEB’s occupied Building 189, the new construction contains both open and closed (classified) areas, including training facilities, office space, a server room, drawing vaults and an ECC. The facility also supports additional functional groups including the primary communication room for Groton, NRRO/RPCO, NNPP and nuclear testing. The server rooms and ECC are supported by UPS and emergency generator systems.
